Matt Wulf is a character in every sense of the word. Outgoing, generous, and witty, Matt could easily have been a good fit in most comic strips. Instead, he chose the slightly more lucrative greeting card market where he shops around his image and personality on everything from bookmarks and ceramic mugs to pajamas. Needless to say, the job has it's drawbacks and artistic integrity is among the first casualties. It's a good thing he's got a well grounded sense of purpose. Being married has a tendancy to help with that and Meg does her part to keep his wit from turning into cynicism.
Matt has a bona-fide competitive streak and it shows. What could be seen as a remnant of distant ancestoral behavior has become more playful and innocent. Though he loves to compete, he knows how to keep it in perspective. He's also good friends with Rusty, the technical and special effects department head at the studio where his wife's strip is produced.
